Mildred Wilson Younkin's Obituary
Mildred Wilson Younkin, 88, died Friday, October 31st, in Fayetteville. She was born March 31st, 1926, in McAllen, Texas to M.P. and Lela Wilson.
Mildred attended the University of Texas and graduated from the University of Arkansas with a B.S. degree in Chemistry. She was an active member of Central United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Senior Saints and served as treasurer of United Methodist Women for 40 years. She was also a member of the P.E.O. sisterhood for 69 years, serving most of those years in Chapter K, Fayetteville. She was a devoted and lifelong Texas Longhorn fan.
Mildred is preceded in death by her husband, William B. Younkin, her parents, and her sister, Jean Mikeska.
She is survived by her sister, Evelyn Lindsay of Los Angeles, California; two daughters, Linda Springer of Springdale, and Carolyn Underwood and husband Charles, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; granddaughters Angela Castleberry and husband Bryon of Fayetteville, and Stephanie Bankston and husband Douglas of Centerton; three great-grandchildren, Tyler and Evan Bankston, and Kate Castleberry, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Wednesday, November 5th, at 10:00am at Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville under the direction of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home. Burial will be at Fayetteville National Cemetery.
