Olive Marie McMurtrey's Obituary
Olive Marie McMurtrey, 87, died January 14, 2008 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
She was born Olive Marie Thurlby on Sept 16, 1920 in Lonoke, Arkansas. She
Graduated from Fayetteville High School and attended the U of A Fayetteville
where she met and married James Eugene McMurtrey. They lived in Southern
California before moving and retiring to Russellville, Arkansas in 1978.
She was an active member of the Russellville Garden and Day Lilly Clubs. She
Loved flowers, bingo and birds. She had many wonderful friends and neighbors
there.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Eugene McMurtrey and daughter
Jeanne Thorpe.
Survivors include her sister Evelyn P. Valley of Shelton, Washington.
Daughters Kathy Carpenter and husband John of Bella Vista, AR and Laura
Mortensen and husband Paul of Fayetteville, AR.
Grandchildren include Jeannie Chisman and husband Beau of Ithaca, NY. Matthew
Waxenfelter and wife Valerie of Oklahoma City, Ok. Mike Thorpe of Virginia
Beach, VA and Dan Thorpe and wife Erin of Raleigh, NC. David Mortensen and
Leigh Mortensen of Fayetteville, AR.
Great grandchildren include Jake, Natalie, Isabel, Liberty and Carly Jean.
Memorial service will be held at a later date.
