Dear Bonnie and family:
I was saddened to learn of Loren?s death. Since 1954 he and I have shared a lot of experiences, from making home brew to soldiering in the mighty 306th Civil Affairs/Military Government Group to observing and attempting to analyze the actions of General Bullmoose, Betty Crocker and other worthies (their real names are omitted to avoid litigation). Patsy and I had many a laugh and cheer with you along the way, with parties, trips to ASEE meetings (who remembers Domay?), sessions of joke telling, and quiet evening discussions about everything.
Loren was a good teacher, a good department chairman, a good dean of engineering and a good man ? and above all, a good friend. The winds of time blow down the hallways of our lives, slamming all the doors. I mourn the closing of this one. He had a long and productive life, and I?m sure his children and grandchildren will remember him fondly. May he rest easy.
I send my warmest wishes ? my thoughts are with you in your time of grieving.
Jim
