Robert Gibson III.'s Obituary
Robert Gibson III of Fayetteville, AR passed away on April 14, 2023, at his home. He was born April 2, 1951 in Nodena, AR to Robert Jr. and Stella Gibson. Bob, as he was affectionately known, served for 31 years as an Arkansas State Trooper in Troop L in Springdale, AR, until his retirement in 2006. Bob was a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church for over 30 years and developed a love for guitars as he taught himself how to play. He married the late Ernestine White Gibson on March 8, 1974, and they raised two children together: Rev. Dr. Deanna (Dee) M. Stokes of Thomasville, NC and Robert Gibson IV of Fayetteville, AR. The oldest surviving Gibson, Bob is now survived by all of his siblings: Billy Gibson, Barbara Ann Williams, Anita Brown, Lawrence (Ricky) Gibson, Gale Gibson, Barry Gibson, Larry Wayne Gibson, and Georgia Davis. He is also survived by one grandson Robert Gibson V, and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 21, at St. James Missionary Baptist Church on 764 West North Street, in Fayetteville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, at St. James Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.
