Simone Kilian Fox's Obituary
Simone Kilian Fox was called upon by our Heavenly Father on October 23, 2019. She was born in Lubeck, Germany, and spent her life in Pueblo, CO, Fayetteville, AR, Los Angeles, CA, New York, NY, London, UK, and Seattle, WA. She spent her childhood in Pueblo and Fayetteville, graduated from Fayetteville High School, and moved to Manhattan to pursue her dreams. Simone attended the Massachusetts College of the Arts, UCLA, and NYU, and graduated with honors from NYU with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Photography.
Simone traveled the world to photograph rock bands, carnivals, landmarks and fascinating people. She loved all things Halloween, her maltipoo Spanky, and collecting obscure but noteworthy albums. Music and art meant everything to her. Simone was brilliant, sensitive, creative and had a great sense of humor. She loved to laugh loudly and deeply, and engage in complex conversations with other brilliant minds. Simone was a voracious reader and member of Mensa for a brief period of time, until she became bored with it.
While living in Manhattan, she was a photographer for the East Village Eye and Details magazine, and also worked for EyeType. She shared her creative and imaginative works through exhibits and group shows at Lucky Strike, Danceteria, Club 57, Vox Populi and Max Fish. Simone was very private about her photography; however she allowed some of her work to be published in various articles, books and publications. In the early 90’s, Simone left NYC, and moved to London, Seattle and Los Angeles. While in LA, Simone worked for Universal Studios, and her favorite place to hangout was Wacko gallery in Silverlake. Simone really enjoyed spending time with her husband, James Fox, and fellow artists. She loved the ocean air, and walking along the beach. After spending over a decade in LA, she moved back to Fayetteville to be close to her family.
Simone is survived by her Mother, Elaine Cencel (Brattin), her Sister, Suzanne (Herzog) Owens, her Uncle, Arthur Cencel of Newport Beach, CA, her cousin Renee Dobkin of Costa Mesa, CA, and her former Husband, James Fox of New York, NY.
In lieu of a service, a private gallery tribute, featuring her life’s work, will take place in Manhattan in the Spring of 2020. Close friends will be invited to the tribute.
Simone Kilian Fox is gone from this earth, but her legacy will live on forever through her works of art, her family and all of her friends.
