Virginia Davis' Obituary
Virginia Davis, 87, of Fayetteville died July 28, 2008 in her home after a brief battle with cancer. She was born May 13, 1921 in Boston, Massachusetts to Ragnar and Grayce (Wilder) Dalstrom. Later her family moved to Wilmette, Illinois where she graduated from New Trier High School. In 1942 she married her high school sweetheart, Rowland M. Davis. They raised a family of five children in Glen Ellyn, Illinois where Virginia was active in many community activities. She also continued her education, receiving both her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Mathematics. After a brief teaching career, Virginia and Rowland retired to Eureka Springs, Arkansas where she was active in Inspiration Point (IPFAC), Dinner Club and the Historic Preservation Society. After Rowland’s death in 1996, Virginia moved to Fayetteville where she became an active member of the Rolling Hills Baptist Church as well as AAUW, Newcomers Club and CEO. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles and play Scrabble and bridge. Survivors include her five children Deanna Erlandson of Madison, Wisconsin; Rowland Davis of Chicago, Illinois; John Davis of Cedarburg, Wisconsin; Charles Davis of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and Pam Spicer of Scottsdale, Arizona; her sister Gladys Minier of Hoffman Estates, Illinois; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 4 at Rolling Hills Baptist Church in Fayetteville.
