Biography
William “Bill” Durning, 94 of Fayetteville died Monday, January 14, 2013 in Fayetteville. He was born July 18, 1918 in Cass, Arkansas the son of Elias Durning and Lillie Harris Durning. Bill was a respected mechanic, restoring and rebuilding Model A’s and Model T’s. He was also active in the Elkins Senior Center. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Oleeta Durning, daughter, Kaye Spencer, 4 brothers, Roy, Troy, Claude, and Lewis and 5 sisters, Rhetha, Vera, Norma, Stella and Ruth. Survivors include a son, Jerry Durning and his wife Shirley and a brother, Coy Durning of Fayetteville , along with 4 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchidren all of Fayetteville. The family will receive friends from 1PM till service time on Friday at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2PM, Friday, January 18, 2013 at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Fairview memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family would like to give many thanks to the hospice nurses and caregivers and also to Bill’s many friends and family.
