Mr. William E. "Bill" Guthrie, 69 of Fayetteville, AR passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2005 in Fayetteville. He was born April 4, 1936 in Marvel, AR to Walter Edward and Willie Mae (Layman) Guthrie. He was retired from McDonne Read Obituary
I never got the opportunity to meet the man. But with the legacy left behind with Barbara, Rachel, and the rest of the family it is quite evident that he was a great man. I am quite sure that I would have truly loved the man and deeply regret not being able to have ever met him.
My Granddaddy- As I see all the other grandfathers being lovely and sweet, there is no granddaddy as good as mine. For my Granddaddy was so sweet you would want to kiss him a thousand times. My Granddaddy was someone you might want to meet. But as I got older, he got sicker. But the sickness softened his heart. As I saw him dying, I cried and cried. And if you say he wasn't sweet, then that is a lie, a lie. But as I saw him die that depressing day, he went to Heaven. Then, that depressing day turned into a glorious day in Heaven. So as I see all the other grandfathers being lovely and sweet, there is no one as good as mine. Love, Daniel
I knew Bill from the first grade at Beech Crest School through Central High School. and I am so sorry to learn of his passing from this earth but happy to know he is now sitting at the table with Jesus... To Bea and family "The Lord bless you and keep you...The Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you...The Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace". Numbers 6:24-26 and how wonderful to know that "God, Himself will wipe away every tear" Revelations 7:17 and Revelations 21:4... My prayers are for you and with you at this time.
Dearest Bea and family: We know it was a long struggle, and we pray for our Lord to give you strength and Peace that passes all understanding. We know His Love will see you through.

Will remember all the years of family get togethers at our house in Trenton under the mulberry trees when we were growing up and listening to all the grown ups telling tales of the lumber business and sawmills as well as stories of farm operations (small farms). Always looked forward to Uncle Bob going by in his new Hudson automobile............we go way back with those stories. Our thoughts are with your family on the loss of Bill.
I'll always remember that when I was little (1st or 2nd grade) I thought that Uncle Bill worked at McDonald's (not understanding what McDonnell Douglas was). Now I look back and laugh especially now working in Huntsville, AL with many Boeing employees (formerly McDonnell Douglas). Please know that all of you have been in our thoughts and prayers and will remain there as you try to move on holding tight to the memories of the wonderful man you called Husband, Father, and Granddaddy.

After reading all the tributes to my brother I find little left to say.We were raised together but went separate ways as adults and I have to confess that I did not know Bill ....not the adult Bill.
Even as a young man he was destined for leadership.
My thoughts and prayers are for his family....Bea, Rick, Walt and Barb and their extended families.
